Have you ever wished that the lines between work, your social life and your faith were more intricately intertwined? Here’s some help.
After drawing more than 600 attendees in the 2005 and 2007 conferences, this year’s Christ@Work Conference will be held on Saturday Dec 5 at the Catholic Junior College Performing Arts Centre. This biennial conference is organised by Praise@Work, a cross-parish charismatic prayer group for young working adults.
Christ@Work 2009 is supported by Caritas Singapore and The Catholic Business Network.
With the theme, “Living a Holystic Life”, this year’s conference targets working adults who seek to grow spiritually, socially and professionally. It aims to help Catholics better understand God’s plan for them in their workplace, family or church.
Various speakers will share their profound and life-changing experiences of how they found strength in God to overcome the challenges and trials they faced at work, at home, and in church.
Keynote speaker Michael Walsh, a dynamic evangelist from the United States who has encouraged Catholics of all ages to live out their faith in their everyday lives, will speak about how God prevails and supports your whole life – spiritually, socially and professionally. He will draw from his own personal experience as an individual juggling multiple roles as father, husband, entrepreneur, evangelist, actor, video producer, youth minister and even a Hollywood stuntman.
Kwek Mean Luck, Deputy Secretary (Industry), Ministry of Trade and Industry, will talk about the concept of Spiritual Intelligence or “SQ”, and how it helps us to see the world through Jesus’ eyes, challenging us to make decisions as Jesus would in our pursuit of a happier, more meaningful and fulfilling life.
Bernard and Ying Thio, working parents to six children, will speak on the challenges of maintaining a work-life balance in modern marriages and the importance of building Christ-centred marriages.
A panel discussion titled “Church 2.0: Using Technology To Build God’s Kingdom” will look at how technological advancements like Facebook and Twitter have reshaped the world that we live in and are starting to play a pivotal role in church management, evangelisation and community building.
Participants will be able to choose from any of three concurrent sessions – Living Out the Eucharist in this Day and Age; God, My Silent Partner in Business; and Not the Art, Not the Science, but the Spirituality of Conflict Management.
Other speakers include The Ideas Factory CEO Nicholas Lee, author of Living from the Heart Liz Gay, Catholic Archdiocesan Youth Centre’s Edwyn De Souza who is a dynamic evangelist, Chairman of Caritas Singapore and former Country Managing Director of Accenture Willie Cheng, and Family Life Society President Bernard Yu.

Early bird discounts end on Oct 29, and are priced at $55 for individuals, and $50 per person for groups of five or more. Prices of tickets are inclusive of lunch, breaks, and conference materials.
