We wish that the authorities lay some ground rules about the upcoming Lady Gaga's performances in Singapore on May 28, 29 and 31 that the entertainer does not trample on our religious sensitivities.

Lady Gaga displays lewdness, perversion, occultism, nudity, licentiousness, and homosexuality in her videos and songs.

We believe the entertainer tears down everything that God has spoken in His Word and brings about a breakdown of spiritual and moral values in our youths.

It is heartening to see that the authorities in South Korea, Indonesia and Philippines have been very united about their displeasure against Lady Gaga's blatant disregard for the sensitivities of those who believe in God and His moral laws.

The media will no doubt exalt and highlight Lady Gaga when she comes to Singapore. However, we hope that the faithful in our little red dot will not be compromised.

There is still a silent majority who do not agree with this kind of bad role models which affects our youths and society.

It is not just about religious sensitivities but an immoral influence her shows bring upon our society that we disagree with.

I can assure Mr. and Mrs. Lee that it isn’t necessary for the authorities to “…lay some ground rules about the upcoming Lady Gaga performances in Singapore….” as laws, not ‘rules’, already exist in the form of the Public Entertainments Act. Nor should they worry too much that Lady Gaga “…does not trample on our religious sensitivities..” as once again laws, not ‘rules’ already exist in the form of the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act. If necessary, provisions of other Acts can be used.

As in all aspects of Singapore life the rule of law applies, let’s not copy other Asian countries where authorities have flip-flopped on approval for concerts seemingly using the size and rowdiness of the ‘for’ and ‘against’ camps as a gauge to make a decision.

The organizers of the concerts will be very much aware of these provisions and the penalties they will face if there are any transgressions. Recent history tells us that the authorities are only too willing to intervene if there are any infringements.

However, the principle of freedom of expression is also enshrined and what some may perceive as lewdness, perversion, occultism, nudity, licentiousness, and homosexuality is simply racy entertainment to others. Personally, I wouldn’t cross the road to see a Lady Gaga concert, even if it was free, but I fully respect the freedoms of those who do. The expression “live and let live” springs to mind.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee need not worry, the Catholic Church has been around for over two thousand years and has withstood assaults from all quarters, I doubt very much that a Lady Gaga concert in Singapore will bring it to its knees, Nor will it be an ‘immoral influence’, our youngsters in the audience are made of studier stuff than most of us give them credit for.

the unlady-like LADY GAGA is what the decaying aspect of USA is all about.

it is odd to note that it is wrong to place a crucifix like they used to in class-rooms in the USA but at the same time, they allow the 'immoral' displays of conduct or ven laud them?

this is precisely WHY the USA is DECAYING.
